ADP Architects helped transform a 40,000 SF warehouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard into a cozy coworking space featuring photography studios, conference lounges and test kitchens.

Sector: Sacred
Location: New York, NY
Scope: Historic Preservation Consulting
Project Type: Interior Renovation
Status: Completed

Acheson Doyle Partners Architects served as the Architect of Record for an aesthetic and softly lit office home for Food52’s community of kitchenware designers. The office features four test kitchens, one social kitchen, one large communal kitchen, 10 photography studios, a product storage room, a prop store, a library, 14 meeting rooms, a showroom, an outdoor space, and comfortable workstations designed to accommodate over 100 people.

One challenge of inhabiting a large, open concrete and glass building such as Dock 72 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard was how to begin making it feel more down to earth and comfortable for everyday use. Collaborating with design architect Float Studio, ADP helped make the vision of offering a human-scaled space into a reality through careful material selections, thoughtful circulatory strategies and sensitive finishes that transformed the sprawling warehouse into a home for creativity and new ideas to flourish.
